Arizona Kyudo Kai

We here at the Arizona Kyudo Kai strive to embody the teachings, philosophy, and spirituality found within the kyudo.  We are a diverse and dynamic group of individuals who come from many walks of life but all share a common interest in kyudo.  All of us at the Arizona Kyudo Kai take great care in following the tenets of kyudo by seeking perfection in our shooting form; encouraging appreciation of the cultural aspects of Japanese archery; and embracing positive, friendly exchange between members and the local community.
We are always looking for individuals interested in learning about kyudo and welcome everyone to our group:  beginner or experienced.

Kizuna Project

The Kizuna Project was formed in the spring of 2024 to document the history of Tucson’s Japanese community by conducting and filming oral histories and the artifacts that accompany them.

These firsthand stories of Tucson residents cover their experiences and those of their families through World War II to the present. Some of these wartime experiences took place in the incarceration camps and U.S. military, while others took place in Japan. Post-war stories focus on the effort to start businesses and Japanese cultural organizations in Tucson. They testify to the resilience of the Japanese spirit and their desire to contribute to the community.
